DESCRIPTION

We seek an experienced culinary/community gardener for the 2023 season. Candidate must be a knowledgeable gardener with experience growing herbs, vegetables, and fruits in Virginia's climate with prior experience with an organic culinary/community garden. Experience with honeybees, berries, chickens, and lavender would be a plus.

We seek someone who genuinely loves organic gardening and enjoys spending time outdoors. MUST BE: self-motivated, hardworking, joyful, flexible, creative, resourceful problem solver, enjoy interacting with people, pride in work, attention to detail, sense of humor, organized.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidate will:

Collaborate with land owners to plan this year's garden, purchase all needed supplies, and plant everything.
Tend to the organic garden day-to-day throughout the growing season with attention to detail and genuine care, and without the use of inorganic fertilizers, chemical herbicides, or synthetic pesticides.
Maintain the garden area and all tools, keeping everything in shape, tidy and inviting.
Manage harvesting, cleaning, and packing produce for culinary use and community sharing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Several years of experience with herb, vegetable, fruit gardening

Current and valid drivers license with a clean driving record

Reliable transportation is required

Ability to lift heavy objects and do physical labor outside in the garden

Educational background in agriculture a plus

Real life experience as a culinary or community gardener

Passion and genuine love for gardening
