Position Type: Full time position with work beginning in April and ending in November with opportunity for some winter work. Our work days are Monday through Friday, and 40 hours a week. Of course we work within the reality of the weather and sometimes weekend work will be need. We do have flexible in/out times. This can be further discussed at time of interview. 


Salary Range: We start all employees at $18 an hour and we are open to discuss wages at time of interview. We base our increase in pay upon the applicants experience. 

Job Description: Seeking an Assistant land steward to perform horticulture duties on a twenty+ acre estate that is home to traditional landscaping elements along with pocket meadows, pond, stream, and native plant installation. The hired applicant for this position will work with the land steward on the property and assist with all responsibilities that are under the supervision of the Land Steward. We ask that our applicants have a positive attitude, do not mind getting dirty, hard work, flexibility and willingness to work independently or with all those who are part of a large collaborative team.

Primary jobs include but are not limited to: Weeding, Leaf removal, Planting, Watering, Pruning, String Trimming/Mowing, Mulching, Pond/Stream Maintenance, Invasive plant species removal, Record keeping, Debris removal, Seeding, Raking, Shoveling, Snow Removal/Salting, Tree installation and staking. 

Qualifications and Education Required: Knowledge of basic horticulture skills. Degree or related certification in the field of horticulture, arboriculture, plant science or similar field, or at least 3 years experience in the horticultural industry. Must be comfortable to wade into water from ankle to hip deep(We provide the waders.)  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs continuously throughout a day. Valid driver's license.

Preferred (But not Required) Skills: Experience operating various power equipment.Knowledge of native plants. Ability to identify exotic species.
