Surrounds Inc. is an award-winning Landscape Architecture and Construction Company for high-end residential landscaping. We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter to fill an integral role on our administrative team as the Purchasing Manager. This person will have excellent customer relationship and communication skills, acute attention to detail, horticulture and plant care knowledge, and the ability to effectively schedule and meet deadlines. This person will have one direct report for the receiving, dispatch, and maintenance of plant and other materials in the yard.
Job Responsibilities
- Material & supplies sourcing, price negotiation, and acquisition for Design-Build & Maintenance departments.
- Coordinate purchase requirements and material/supply flow with Estimating, Production, and Accounting departments.
- Manage/Assist with material/supplies inventory, yard, and fleet management.
- Assist Accounts Payable with maintaining purchase order process.
- Maintaining and communicating necessary information as it pertains to inventory balances, cash flow, purchases, contract administration, etc.
- Directly supervise the yard associate position to assist with inventory management, plant health care, material receipt & material delivery to job sites.
Essential Functions
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for research, pricing, acquiring and expediting all materials. Develop and maintain solid relationships with new and existing vendors. The Purchasing Manager will work internally with departments, communicating, coordinating and overseeing tasks necessary to complete jobs.
- Negotiate price points for job profitability.
- Build/maintain relationships with vendors.
- Maintain pricing/material database for accurate estimating.
- Coordinate and manage the receipt and delivery of materials/supplies to the yard and to job sites per the purchase requirements of jobs and specific tasks.
- Maintain material inventory process to facilitate efficient loading/unloading of material for the following day’s tasks.
- Maintain inventory process to prevent over-purchasing, supply depletion, and crew inefficiencies due to intra-day purchasing.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Horticulture & plant care knowledge, general administrative skills, supplies management, administrative writing skills, documentation skills, verbal & written communication, dependability, attention to detail, Microsoft Office experience, ability to perform physical tasks outdoors in all seasons.
