Responsibilities include:
- All aspect of growing including planting, watering, fertilization, spraying and testing
- Plant maintenance; including greenhouse environment monitoring and plant placement
- Assuring the plant health; including identifying, testing, and documenting new methods to improve plant health
- Identifying, tracking, and controlling insect related issues
- Helping to organize, prioritize, schedule and work with the greenhouse planting team
- Work with planting team to accurately track number of plants potted daily
- Working with managers to identify new ways to improve operational and labor efficiency
- Assisting the Grower in implementing planting schedules
- Support of other departments and managers as needed
- Participation in grower meetings
- Assistance in various Garden Center projects
Candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Previous experience in the planting and/or garden center industry
- Supervisory experience / skills
- Horticulture or related college degree is a major plus
- High energy, self-motivation, and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team oriented
- Ability to work longer hours during peak season, with some weekends required
This is a great position for someone who enjoys working outdoors and with plants.
This is an eleven month position. There is a brief lay off period where unemployment benefits would supplement.
