Landscape Supervisor (Facilities Supervisor 3)
https://psu.edu has a rich history of grounds management, horticulture, and arboriculture. Landscaping on campus began almost immediately after the founding of the college in 1856. The tradition of having well-maintained grounds continues today. The campus landscape influences everyone's perception of the quality of the University, and the educational experience it offers.
https://opp.psu.edu (OPP) has an exciting opportunity to join our landscape team as a Landscape Supervisor (Facilities Supervisor 3)! The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and management of a crew that is responsible for landscape construction projects, the care and management for the Universities tree resources, and snow/ice removal. As the only two-time winner of the Professional Grounds Management Society Grand Award Winner for Grounds Maintenance Excellence, we want the landscape at Penn State to continue to be the best maintained college campus in the United States, and for the landscape team to be nationally recognized for its policies and procedures.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate assigned technical-service and temporary employees
• Develop work schedules
• Administer Union-University Agreement and human resources procedures and policies
• Make recommendations concerning modifications in manpower, material, or equipment and maintain control of materials, vehicles, and other University property
• Ensure safe working conditions
• Organize/conduct training programs

Education and experience:
Typically requires an associate degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree and strong experience in arboriculture and/or landscape contracting is preferred. A Pennsylvania Public Pesticide Applicator Certification, or ability to obtain certification after hired, is required.
