Horticultural Interns with a passion for working in a public garden setting. They will receive practical, hands on experience in all phases of maintenance, landscape design and enhancement of a diverse collection of horticultural plants within the 409 acre arboretum. The interns will also help to maintain and enhance many special gardens, such as the Dwarf conifer Garden, Hydrangea Garden, Woodland Garden, Synoptic Garden, Rhododendron Collection, Formal Gardens and a large display greenhouse. All interns are invited to participate in near-weekly educational field trips to private and public gardens, nurseries and growers on Long Island and the surrounding areas. Housing is included.
Applicants must be enrolled or recently graduated from a academic program in Ornamental Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science or a related field. Applicants must furnish a resume, academic transcripts, 3 letters of reference and a employment application provided by the Arboretum.
