Job Summary
Responsible for managing and maintaining the grounds and landscape for Kennesaw and Marietta campuses. Serves as Project Manager on University projects and reviews construction plans and specifications. Assists Campus Planning and Construction with the coordination of landscape projects and serves as coordinator and technical advisor concerning maintenance, landscape design and plant installation. Coordinates event management set up and take downs with event staff.
Responsibilities
1. Manages landscape maintenance, snow removal, ice management, event management and scheduling
2. Directs department supervisors and groundskeepers, provides grounds maintenance, and coordinates services with customers and service providers
3. Develops and implements training programs and procedures and processes to improve service
4. Responsible for policy and procedure protocols and emergency response for weather conditions and natural disasters that might alter normal operating conditions on campus
5. Performs 24/7 call in duties and shares with other staff on a rotation basis
6. Recommends hiring/termination of staff and evaluates performance
7. Serves as technical manager on matters related to inspection, material selection, estimating labor analysis, work programming, contractor recommendations, etc.
8. Works with planning office regarding land use, new construction, site work and landscape issues
9. Serves as liaison on various committees and provides consultation services as requested
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Associates degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Horticulture or a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia driver's license
Appropriate certificate or ability to acquire with-in six (6) months of hire
Required Experience
Eight (8) years field experience with major focus on landscape maintenance and crew supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Georgia cat.24 pesticide applicators license
Preferred Experience
Irrigation repair and management experience
Proposed Salary
Pay Grade: E06
The budget for this position is between $41,878 and $59,000. Offers will be based on candidate experience and budget availability.

ABILITIES
Able to operate and instruct by example the safe operation of all types of equipment necessary to perform the job
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time while meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of plant types and identification of plants in landscaping
Knowledge of best methods of pruning, spraying, and planting and cultural requirements of plants and trees
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
