The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University seeks a skilled arboriculture professional, passionate about the care of botanical collections, to fill the role of Arboretum Arborist. The successful candidate will join the Arboretum’s Horticulture Department in the stewardship of one of the finest and most significant woody plant collections in North America. The successful individual will work alongside fellow members of the Arborist Team as they rotate through the collections evaluating plant health and assessing and executing the unique pruning needs of each specimen. This team also performs large-scale plant removals, hazard tree assessments and implementation of corrective measures, IPM practices, and other tasks as needed as part of the full horticultural operation. In addition, horticulture staff members support the Arboretum’s longstanding internship training programs through development and instruction of courses, hands-on training, and mentorship. The successful candidate is expected to engage fully in the professional activities of the Arboretum and work collaboratively with colleagues on institutional efforts. Hourly wage: $34.59.
