Summary of Position

We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented horticulturist to join our team at Willow Ridge Garden Center and Landscaping in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Willow Ridge was established in 1981, and has become the pinnacle of customer experience in the Knoxville area. Our retail business serves local garden enthusiasts as well as area businesses. After 30 years our current Horticulturist is retiring and we are searching for candidates to fill this customer facing position.

Our Horticulturist assists each department with the overall care and health of the plant material in their area by troubleshooting disease and/or pest issues. The Horticulturalist also advises departments on specific plants best suited for our zone.

Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities

Assist retail customers with plant selection and general care and maintenance.
Consult with customers as well as team members to diagnose plant diseases/pests and recommend avenues of treatment.
Upkeep and maintenance of all areas of the garden center.
May be called upon to assist with educational groups and/or tours.
General research on horticultural techniques.
Other duties as assigned.

Required

2+ years' experience in horticulture or garden center.
Curiosity, willingness to ask questions and eagerness to learn.
Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues to share observations.
Ability to work independently within a small team and take initiative towards shared priorities.
Ability to use judgment in interpreting and following written and verbal instructions.
Ability to handle physical requirements that include moving hoses, standing for long periods, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and working in hot conditions.
