JOB TITLE: Horticulturist

DEPARTMENT: Grounds and Landscaping

REPORTS TO: Golf Course Superintendent

Essential duties are as follows:

1.Leads, oversees and performs the care and maintenance of all ornamental beds, flowers, baskets, pots, decorative wagons on the Club grounds, golf course, and other Flying Horse and Classic Properties.

2.Assists in the recruiting, hiring, training and retention of a team that performs numerous horticulture and greenhouse tasks on multiple properties.

3.Schedules, assigns tasks, monitors work and reviews projects and team members to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met.

4.Performs required fertility, watering, installation and removal of seasonal flowers.

5.Knowledgeable and experienced in design, construction and renovation projects, including irrigation installation, troubleshooting and repairs.

6.Competent with safe operation of power equipment utilized in the daily maintenance of ornamental plants and shrubs.

7.Works with nursery supplier to create aesthetically pleasing variety of annuals and perennials throughout the properties.

8.Assist in greenhouse operations including preparation of annuals and perennials to be used throughout the properties.

9.Trains team and incorporates safe working practices while performing necessary duties of the job.

10.Understands, follows, participates and contributes in the Budget Process.

11. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, lift 50lbs, and be able to bend, stoop and crawl.

12. This Position requires weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to Golf Course Superintendent for the fulfillment of functions and responsibilities. Will have contact with various members of The Club at Flying Horse staff, HOA personnel, homeowners and other industry related people and is to conduct relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing and operational success of the company.
