Landscape Plant Buyer

What matters most in this role:

-Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, or 3 years’ experience in the landscape distribution segment, or strong plant identification/cultural knowledge.

-Experience with Microsoft office with emphasis on Excel

-Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

-Ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal industry and deliver results to meet timelines

-Enjoy traveling to trade shows and suppliers around the US

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:

Plants:

-Working alongside department managers to make decisions on new products

-Monitoring nursery stock inventory and product quality

-Sourcing plant material from across the United States

People:

-Building and maintaining supplier relationships

-Participate in industry events/trade shows

-Negotiate pricing with suppliers

-Participate in cross-team meetings and company projects

Management:

-Schedule product shipments

-Make sure plants get delivered on time and meet required standards

-Establish selling prices for plant material

-Develop and adhere to department budget

On a given day:

-You will arrange deliveries of plant material

-You will check availabilities of plant materials with suppliers

-You will update/organize/evaluate procurement spreadsheet

-You will inspect plant material upon arrival

-Review/monitor inventory numbers for departments

-Communicate with department managers regarding procurement needs or pertinent updates

-Manage the receiving process
