We are now accepting resumes for an experienced nursery propagator to add to our team of skilled employees. We are a small company with a focus on innovative and sustainable design. The candidate for this position must be able to manage workers, work independently and with a team, be flexible and creative.

Requirements

5 years of experience minimum with: Propagation: seed, division, cuttings, fertilization program, IPM, inventory mgt, irrigation
Have a very good understanding of the various types of sexual and asexual propagation, and the different type of environments used to optimize production, and a thorough knowledge of the different types of media used in propagation.
proper seed collection and handling techniques
the common insects, fungi, and diseases which affect flowers, shrubs and trees
integrated pest management methods
greenhouse and nursery facility operations
Good organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Initiation of many new plants through various techniques using sexual and asexual propagation. Sexual propagation is achieved by using viable seed or spore, and asexual propagation is carried out by using cuttings, grafting, layering, and division as some examples.
Propagator must be efficient and can demonstrate a variety of propagation techniques.
Maintains greenhouse and nursery as a functioning propagation facility, including buildings, hoop houses and cold frames; propagates plants by budding, layering, or dividing in a greenhouse or cold frames; cultivates plants by watering, spraying various mixtures of insecticides, applying fertilizers, and regulating temperatures by ventilation and heating controls
Makes soil mixes; makes cuttings; plants, transplants and prunes a wide variety of flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants in the greenhouse and nursery.
Participates in the maintenance of the grounds surrounding related facilities
