IECA’s Member Get A Member Contest in Full Swing
Steamboat Springs, CO. The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) has launched its annual Member Get A
Member contest. The annual competition is designed to grow the IECA membership and allow members to win rewards
for referring their colleagues to the association.
“Word of mouth is one of the main ways we recruit new members, so the Member Get A Member campaign is a crucial
part of IECA’s annual membership drive. I think our members understand that our strength is in our numbers—more
members means more resources and knowledge for everyone,” explains Ben Northcutt, IECA Executive Director.
Last year, Phil Handley, of San Antonio, Texas, won the grand prize by recruiting 16 new members. Handley received
the IECA Ambassador Award plus a cash prize and recognition from his peers.
As of June 15, 26 IECA members have participated in the 2005 contest. They are:
Thomas Allen Joe Crea Julie LaLond Peggy Plauger
Gilbert I. Barber Patty Daniel Robin Mahoney Rick Sabey
James R. Barrett Phil Handley Jett McFalls Les Sawatsky
Paul A. Berry Patricia Hardy Alan McNiel Ed Stein
Kevin Brydges Joel Henrie Brian Noll Daniel Waldman
Tom Carpenter Lindsey Henry Jeff Ochampaugh Fred Wright
Marvin Courtnage Flint Holbrook
This year, every member who recruits at least 6 new members will receive a free one-year professional membership to
IECA. Says Northcutt, “We have updated the contest to make sure we are rewarding a larger number of our recruiters.
The work they do to support the association is vital to our growth, and we wanted to ensure they get rewarded for their
efforts.”
Contest details can be found on the IECA web site at www.iece.org/Membership/GetaMember. The contest ends on
December 31, 2005.
